France operates water production facility in Pariaman
French Civil Security Detachment personnel sent to earthquake-devastated West Sumatra have built a water production facility in Pariaman.
The French Embassy said the new equipment started operating at 4:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday to provide and distribute clean water to people displaced by the 7.6-magnitude quake.
The French personnel are among 688 foreign volunteers assisting in the search for people trapped beneath rubble and landslides, and providing medical treatment to survivors. The volunteers brought in 67 bloodhounds.
The Swiss contingent is the largest team, with 108 people and 18 canine dogs, followed by France with 85 personnel and Japan with 65.
